Kiwi Night: Travel Down Under
An evening of great food, great coffee, great fellowship!
On Monday, April 3, 2006, 50 patrons filled the tables at Cassatt's: A Kiwi Café for a special Kiwi Night. In celebration of the 20 th anniversary of Joan Porte's Travel Partners, an Arlington travel agency, Cassatt's invited Joan to offer travel information about New Zealand to patrons along with the special Kiwi Night menu, the vocal stylings of Kiwi native Ram, great door prizes, and special guests the Honorable Roy Ferguson, ambassador to the United States from New Zealand, and his wife, Dawn.
Our thanks and appreciation to:
- Art Hauptman, Cassatt's
- Juan Morales, Dawn, Mary and the rest of the Cassatt's staff
- Joan Porte, Travel Partners, Inc.
- The Honorable Roy Ferguson and his wife Dawn, and Toni Mitchell at the New Zealand Embassy
Congratulations to our winners:
Alma Kasulaitis, Falls Church Delicious Pavlova dessert
(Alma later emailed us to say: " I brought the Pavlova to our Pot Luck dinner tonight. Everyone loved it, especially me. I had three huge pieces myself. Had I know how good it was, it might not have made it to the Pot Luck. It was decadent.")
Eileen Fredriksen, Falls Church $25 Cassatt's dinner gift certificate
Richard and Paulette Carlson, Arlington $25 Cassatt's dinner gift certificate
Eric and Emeline-Paat Dahlstrom, Arlington $50 AMEX gift card courtesy of Travel Partners, Inc.
GRAND PRIZE
Misty and Harry Costner, Arlington Two coach airfares to New Zealand courtesy of Travel Partners, Inc.
Art with our Grand Prize winners, Misty and Harry Costner of Arlington . They are, appropriately, regular Cassatt's customers!
New Zealand Ambassador Roy Ferguson, Dawn Ferguson, Art Hauptman, and Joan Porte.
Still in shock! Misty Costner, third from left, has just learned she is the Grand Prize winner of two airfares to New Zealand .
(left to right) Eric and Emeline-Paat Dahlstrom, and Paulette and Richard Carlson of Arlington , came to Cassatt's separately, but ended up sharing a table and good conversation all night long. They were also our "winning-est" table, picking up two of our great door prizes.
It's a full house on this Kiwi Night and Ram's in full voice at the microphone.
Patrons received a mini photo album of New Zealand sights complete with travel tips courtesy of Joan's Travel Partners www.joanstravelpartners.com.
